WrestleMania 30: Sting and WWE still reportedly talking

Sting might finally come to WWE … or he might not.

“The only thing that’s for sure about Sting is that nothing’s for sure.”

Those were the last words uttered by Sting before he changed his gimmick to “The Crow” and feuded with the nWo back in WCW in 1996 but they apply all these year’s later because no one is sure what his next career move will be. His contract with TNA comes up this month and he has yet to sign a new deal with the company.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required by recommended), Dave Meltzer reports he’s still talking to WWE:

They are also talking with Sting, who has not renewed his TNA deal.
Jumping ship to WWE has always been a risky play for Sting because he cannot guarantee how he will be booked and what the creative minds running the ship might do with his character, including outright tossing him overboard. He cited this as a reason he didn’t sign after WCW went out of business.

TNA, on the other hand, has treated him like a deity and allowed him to work a lesser schedule as a marquee attraction at all times. He’s paid fairly well and has a good relationship with the people who run the show.

However, WWE is poised to completely change the industry in 2014 and perhaps have its most profitable year ever while TNA is in turmoil and inching closer and closer to going out of business completely. If there was ever a time for him to take a leap of faith, it’s now.

By the time WrestleMania 30 rolls around, he’ll be 55-years-old. Does he have one more great match left in him? Would that match have to come against Undertaker? For that matter, how would WWE even use him if he did sign?
